The inauguration of the Indira Gandhi Planetarium was done in 8th May 2003 by the Hon.Chief Minister of UP Ms.Mayawati.The Indira Gandhi Planetarium is also known as Taramandal Show. The visuals of astrology appear as marvels. The outstanding structure and design of the building are known worldwide for its uniqueness. The spectators feel thrilled to visit the planetarium as they get the opportunity to see the splendid visuals of the movement of The sun, moon, stars, planets..etc.

There are some activities held in Lucknow Taramandal Show that give the spectators especially children a knowledgeable tour. Indira Gandhi planetarium displays four Astronomical Shows daily. The visuals of the show are outstanding and children feel excited as they see the wonders of the world of astronomy so closely.The planetarium also displays a beautiful gallery. It is known as the Astronomy and Space Gallery. It shows various Astronomy models, it also gives information about the Indian space Missions. 3DÂ Show and Timings.
‘Cosmic journey’ is a show presented in the Indira Gandhi planetarium. Its visuals are commendable.The specialty of the show is it shows the Chandrayaan mission, the elimination of Pluto as a planet and all dwarf planets and vivid astronomical concepts are explained, the visuals are outstanding. The concept is precise and clear. Students will intake a lot of knowledge after this show.
- Â 3D show Timings:- 1:00 pm, 2:30 PM, 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM (During summer vacations extra shows will be conducted at 6 PM.)
- Only on Saturday and Sunday, the first show will be in English. On rest of the days, the shows will be in Hindi.
- For 100 or more people shows can be organized in the afternoon at 11 am and 12 PM.
Ticket Booking time is from 11 am to 5 PM.Show duration will be around 35 to 45 mins.
