Today I am going to introduce a splendid monument!! This is the Victoria Memorial Hall and Museum. It is located in Kolkata. This monument was built to commemorate the memory of Queen Victoria. It was built in the year 1921. The visuals and artifacts in the museum ate commendable and truly incredible. It’s been an inspiration for several visitors.
This magnificent museum is created using Markana marble. It’s an outstanding visual. It was built while India was under British Rule. It is also surrounded by a  spacious and marvelous garden. The sound and light shows are very renowned and they completely make this place truly delightful and blissful.
Major Attractions at Victoria Memorial Kolkata
We can see here British, Mughal, Islamic, and Egyptian styles of architecture. Right at the top of this monument, you will see the grand epitome of the Angel of Victory. This view is truly amazing and the major attraction of this spot. This Museum features around 30,000 treasured artifacts. These artifacts include old and unique photos, exclusive paintings are also seen here. There are about 25 galleries. The major galleries include the Royal Gallery, the national leader’s gallery, the sculpture gallery, the Queens Mall gallery, the portrait gallery, and the awesome Calcutta gallery.
This Victoria Museum displays amazing visuals like an enormous collection of books that include writings and works of William Shakespeare. You will also see authentic books related to music and books related to classical dances like Kathak. This museum also features a Grand collection of weapons incredible sets of coins and stamps and amazing designs of textiles. As this place is built as a tribute to Queen Victoria you will see amazing artifacts including the Queen’s personal possessions like her chair, her writing desk, and a piano.
The Calcutta gallery is a reflection of the history of Calcutta. You will see paintings and photos related to the developmental era of Calcutta In The Royal gallery, you will find exclusive paintings describing the living styles of Victoria and Prince Albert. It also has a painting of the Queen.
The entrance gallery showcases photos and paintings of various periods of history between the years 1906 and 1921. People enjoy the wonderful garden that is filled with plenty of flowers and the fragrant smell is present in the air.
You will see Statues Of many eminent personalities in this museum. At the end of your day, you will witness splendid visuals as a marvelous light and sound show takes place here in the evening. This place looks truly blissful in the evening, you just can’t forget the amazing visuals.
The night show is named Son-Et-Lumiere. The show is also known as Pride and Glory the story of Calcutta. The timings of this show start from 6:45 PM to 7:30 PM in Bengali followed by 7:45 PM to 8:30 PM. In English, this is scheduled between the month’s March to June, From October to February, the timings are 6:15 PM. to 7:00 PM. In Bengali followed by 7:15 PM to 8:00 PM. in English.

The entry fee for Indians is Rs 30 and for foreigners, it is Rs. 500/- Note that for school-going children and army officials in uniform, the visit is truly free
Ticket for Garden. The daily entry ticket for the Garden is Rs 20 and the yearly ticket for people who usually come for walking every morning in the garden is Rs 1000/- Tickets for the light and sound show for children below 3 years the fee is rupees 10 and for adults, it is rupees 20
The timings of the night show- it starts at 12:30 p.m. at the ticket counter.
The light and sound show is not available between July to September and also remains closed on national holidays and Mondays. This museum remains closed on Mondays and on national holidays
